The start point is just about 1.5-2 hours from Tokyo. From there we
will ride mostly up-hill through some nice small farm areas. The first
night is in a great little mountain-top hot-spring town.
On Day 2 we will ride further up in the morning, in time to have lunch
at a lake made by the second highest dam in Japan. From there it is a
downhill off-road ride on the only path into the Akiyama Valley from
the south. Here we will have time for a hot-bath (maybe in the
river), and a bear-meat dinner at inn of a local hunter.
Day 3 will be a great downhill cruise on a narrow, paved, twisting
road with amazing views. We will be down into civilization with time
to check out some of the lower villages and museums if you have time.
One option to get back is leaving 5:43pm, arriving 8:12pm. There are
also earlier or later options to fit your schedule.
If the dirt road/trail is impassible, there are still plenty of remote
mountain passes with challenging hills. One option we were thinking is
to keep day one as is, and instead of passing over into the off-road
on day 2, climb further to a 2000+ meter pass with great cruise down
into another hot-spring town on the other side. Day three would then
be a ride down through small country towns where everyone would be out
tending to their farms.
Sounds great, non ? Contactez-moi si vous êtes intéressé.
